I have sometimes specified different sizes for images than the actual image size, and other themes I use handle that without a problem. For instance, if I “squish” a 600×800 pixel image to 600×700, themes such as Twenty-Ten show the full image, but squashed into the smaller size. Blog Way, on the other hand, crops the image at the left and right to fit t he 600×700 space. Is this a bug or a feature?

I can work around this by going through my blog and finding the images I resized this way and creating new, resized images, but if this is a bug and it should work the way Twenty-Ten does, then I’m bringing it to your attention.

    Thanks,
    David

    Hi @David,

Blog Way resize images to specific dimension to make images uniform. If any theme allow full width image and resize it through there will be two major issues.
One is loading full size image (lets say site has 500 images) will decrease site speed. Next, resizing image through css might make image shrink in improper ratio as all users may or may not have knowledge of proper CSS.

Okay, I see that you do this intentionally to compensate for user error. I was deliberately changing the size of the image (and the proportions) in HTML, but I’ll rework those images outside WordPress and replace the existing images. Thanks for clarifying this point.

It is better to scale image and upload the size we require. Though it takes time output will be worthy. Thanks!
