Creating child theme templates not working

Hi

I’m struggling with getting child theme templates to work – be it page or category.

For example, I’ve created a category-slug file in a child theme directory but it is not picking it up.

I also had the same problem with page templates. I had to put the custom template in the main theme directory for it to show, which I haven’t had to in the past with other themes. Even then it didn’t work as expected.

This is a fantastic theme and one I might purchase the pro version of but the difficulty of doing simple tasks is putting me off.

Has anyone else had similar problems?
