Hello,
on my website: http://www.charaktersache.de the upper part not appears to be responsive on mobile phones. The title is too long and outside of the screen of my mobile phone. I can fix it (at least for my phone) by downsizing in css the font-size of the title but thats not an elegant way – would prefer that it works responsive. Any help?

Your site title is too long and it is a single word. If a single word is too long and larger than the width of a viewport, it exceeds the screen.
The only option left is reducing font size which you have done already.
